The boys and their Webkinz... I hope this is normal and other young boys enjoy sewing felt clothing for their bitty stuffed animals. No? Well, at the very least let's hope it won't be a cause for therapy later in life.
I gave Nathan a large blunt-tip needle so that he could begin to learn how to sew his own creations. Otherwise both boys end up waiting for me to do it all and it takes so much longer than I have the ability to sit still. In this picture he is sewing a large "L" on to a blue cape which he then tied on his Leopard, aptly named "Leppy." {hence the large "L"}
Topher is in the process of creating "cop and robber" outfits for 4 of his Webkinz... yes, 4 of them! Thankfully the jackets were created much earlier by Patrick so I was able to skip that step and I was even happier to find out he simply wanted a yellow badge sewn on to the blue cop jackets. For his robbers he asked for black stripes going up and down their white jackets, so I put him to work cutting out the black strips... which bought me some time to get some of my own stuff done.
What was Lilly doing this whole time? What? I thought you were watching her... the last I saw she was admiring a spool of purple thread. {Thinking for a moment as I walk through the house...} I don't remember the kitten having purple stripes or Lilly for that matter. Oh, my, I hope there isn't a Webkinz in need of purple any time soon.

My 5 year old is just getting into Webkinz. She has 2 (one we can find right now) and my mom loves buying her clothes for them. But I love the idea of her making her own clothes for them. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great project for boys, and it looks like yours are having a grand ol' time doing it.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We have WebKinz but my girls haven't discovered that they have clothes for them. I think mine are a little small for sewing them but they could make non-sew clothes from felt. What a great idea! Thanks for linking to Kid Friendly Friday - enjoy your weekend~
